I can only support what you say Karl with empirical evidence. I lived
in CA. from 1971 until last year, and fed lots of performance
vehicles various types of gas and found definite differences in
quality. Quality was determined by how much pinging I had to deal
with. Some stations premium (of the same claimed octane) was definitely
better than others.
