welding redux

I've had welding done on the 91 spider a number of times (wish it tweren't so
but it was necessary)... AFAIK the ECU was never removed, just the battery
disconnected and there hasn't been a problem.
BTW, anyone following the older spider under ashtray hidden light thread:
suppose this mystery light is still lingering on a 91? My BW's AUTO spider
has what appears to be a set of translucent indications for the auto tranny
gears but in the dark they are invisible. As we're both used to standard
transmission cars we often don't know what gear we're moving into in the
spider in the dark (e.g., from park to Drive we hope? or reverse, we
trust?) Strikes me an extra ashtray lamp could be useful under there to
light up the indicators. Anyone done anything like this?
