74 Spider -- Ashtray Light ? ? ?

Hey cats....

There is a light bulb located UNDERNEATH the ashtray (just lays on the 
carpet) that illuminates when the ashtray cover is pulled "open".  A 
mini-push switch located at the front of the under-assembly triggers the 
light.

However, the light shines only thru a crack about an inch forward of the 
ashtray, illuminating the WIPE DEF area, not the ashtray receptacle.

The ashtray "bucket" (the removable part) I have is a rectangular solid 
silver thing (looks original), with no way for the ash tray light to "shine 
through".

What am I missing ?
