Rusty gas tank - 68 Spider Jr.

While I have it on blocks.  What should I do to get rid of the rust in the
gas tank?  It doesn't leak and I've flushed the rust particles out.  How do
I kill the rust and save the gas tank?  If this was a motorcycle I would
flush it with the acid wash and then coat it with the jet fuel tank stuff
that seals it forever.  To do that requires rotating the tank.  Is there
anything I can do while it is in the car?
