Re: Enzo Ferrari

Alfisti,

Long, long time ago, at the beginning of the last century, Enzo Ferrari applied for a job at a car company known as "Fiat". His employment was refused. Enzo did not waste time; he commenced racing, and working, with an Alfa Romeo. His involvement with Alfa racing lasted for many, many years and included redesigning the engine and body components of Alfa race cars. By the way, he was very successful in winning in an Alfa. It was not until much later that he commenced to become involved with activities that eventually, and more particularly, after WWII, resulted in Ferrari, and its racing legend, coming into existence. To the benefit of the Alfa marque, Enzo was one of the persons instrumental in making the Alfa a world marque, and he never forgave Fiat for its refusal. Thus, one could say that Fiat, through its failure to hire Enzo in its plant, helped create the Alfa legend to which we, one way or another, are so enthralled.
