to Sonny - those italians
Sonny, I also live in Liguria (I live near La Spezia)
and I know very well the typical way of working here.
Anyway, in Italy you can't do works on your car in the
public streets. But a thing is the law, another is
what everyone does. I usually do my works (of course
in a private park or in my garage) and I wash my car
in the private car (it's also forbidden to wash the
car in the public street). And yes, reflecting this,
many Alfa (but also Fiat and Lancia) parts' dealers
are not happy when you go to buy a part. Sometimes ago
it was quite frequent anyone did little works on cars,
especially the Alfa owners, but now seems the State
wants we all drive a new Punto (replacing it every 4
years) and we go (and spend) to the workshops to do
everything. Surely not I, but let me say it's a very
sad situation in our country, especially because we
were home of some the most important cars' factories.
Anyway, I didn't see anyone having problems with local
or state police because he wash the car in the public
street. And, more, there are several Alfa parts
dealers who sell directly to the owner without
problems.
Ciao
Leo
