Changing the roll center of a suspension
Hi guys,
There has been lots of talk lately about shocks, and springs. Zamani
also brought up drop spindles and upside-down balljoints.
What we are really trying to do is to move the roll center further down
in a chassis. Has anyone thought about the back end of the GTV6/75
chassis? What would the effects be - assuming it is possible - if one
could lower the roll center of the rear suspension? (this by the way,
is different than lowering the car via shorter springs etc).
I had a brief conversation with Larry at APE and he didn't think this
was a good idea. However, I'll keep his reasoning for later because I'd
like to hear what the forum has to say on the subject.
I for one, think that a low roll center will make the chassis more
stable in transitions which could equate to more confidence-inspiring
posture around corners. But some of you may think differently. What
say you?
