deceleration smoke/fumes inside car 73 spider

  i have this mystery,
under hard decelaretion(only deceleration) i have this strong smell of engine 
smoke/exhaust coming inside the car.I had the exhaust piping checked and 
rechecked for leaks(no leaks).I don't get any smell at all on any kind of 
acceleration or normal driving,I only get it upon fast deceleration.The only 
fact i have that this smell/smoke comes from the trunk area.I have isolated 
the fuel vapor hose that goes to the trunk,I have succesfully replace the 
wheather striping to the trunk lid both didn't work.Now i'm suspecting maybe 
it's coming from the engine bay and travels under the car and somehow inside 
the the trunk.the engine runs good:good gas mileage,no backfiring,burns a 
litttle excessive oil,all emissions air filter,oil sepeorator,are all stock.
   Any suggestions/similar expereinces?
