Engine stands

In past posts on this topic, the fabricated adapters bolted to the motor mount
on the side of the block (even with exhaust tubibg, yikes) have significantly
outnumbered the bolt stand directly to back of block solutions, but a third
way is well represented by David Mericle's post of 25 Jan 1997:

"The best approach many of us have found is to simply take a spare
bellhousing from an Alfa tranmission and securely bolt it to the generic "made
in china" type stands most auto supply houses sell. A "half case" bellhousing
from an early 101 split case tranny (and everything newer, i.e. 105 and 115
series) will fit every size Alfa engine up to two liter fours, and the
resulting mount allows for the simplest strongest attachment without going to
extraordinary lengths".
