Ok folks, I need to do some work on the brakes on my 164S. The
pads/rotors/flexible lines have been replaced. When doing so I noticed
only the right side parking cable was working, the driver side was
rusted out & frozen solid. The passenger side does not look too good
though, so I would like to replace both lines. I recently moved the 164
after not driving it for 2 months. After driving down the road about 5
mi & stopping for gas, I noticed a tiny bit of smoke from the passenger
rear brake. I had barely touched the brakes the whole way. The rest of
my trip was about 20mi of 40-60mph roads & I did not notice any smoke
when stopped at a light or when I arrived at my destination. Dragging
caliper in need of replacement? Would it be a good idea to replace both
rears to have a 'matched' set? Also, the master cylinder is on its way
out, had the lockup symptoms this summer on one hot day in traffic.
What are the special tricks for replacing a 164 brake master cylinder?
Will I have any issues with the ABS pump? What are the special tricks
for the rear calipers & parking brake cables? I have the card disk but
it's out on loan right now.
Thanks,
Zach
