removing rear speakers, 164

I would like to replace the rear speakers in my 164.  You cant remove them
from the trunk so I assume you have to remove them from top on the window
side.  I tried to remove the speaker grill from the top and also tried to
remove the whole speaker cover, but neither seem to budge....  How do I get
these speakers out?
