Re: alfa-digest V8 #159 - Limited Slip Differential

Sorry, but that will not work on an Alfa limited slip. The clutches
in the Alfa LSD are loose enough that you cannot turn one wheel and have the
other turn the same direction. You certainly cannot do that on any rear end
with 10,000 or more miles on it.
If you shim the Alfa rear end really tight, then both wheels will turn
the same direction for a while. The rear end will eventually wear to the
point where you cannot tell by turning the wheels.
The Alfa rear end does have some ramps so that the LSD will still work
when power is applied. The ramps spread the spacers that the spiders turn in
and tighten the clutches. Or they do in theory. The rears still work better
if shimmed relatively tight.
