Hi,

Well, I don't claim to be at all mechanically inclined, but having lived 
through a hilarious variation of the same experience, I can tell you that it 
came from stepping on the gas while starting the car.  I am sorely tempted to 
tell the whole story because people really howl when I tell it, but it would 
make for an awfully long post.

For now - try just turning the key.   ;-)  makes me smile just to think of 
it......
