My trip to Italy
I just arrived home from my first trip to Italy.
I saw the Alfa Museum which is very extensive. I
didn't have very good luck with the Lancia or Fiat
museums. Has anyone ever received the authorization
to visit Museo Vincenzo Lancia?
The modern Italian cars are the so incredibly
beautiful. Pictures just don't do justice. I never
liked the angles of the current GTV and Spider until I
saw them in person. I'm so disappointed that I can't
buy a 156 or GTV to ship home! There must be some way
to get around the U.S. regulations!
I wasn't lucky enough to get an Alfa to rent. I
rented in Paris and ended up with a Peugeot 406.
Quite impressive for a utilitarian vehicle but not
much sport. Very smooth 4 cyl. that I revved to the
limiter time and time again. Unlike here in the U.S.
there's plenty of opportunity to drive very hard and
fast. I get frustrated at the dismally slow and lazy
pace of traffic here, even in New York and San
Francisco. Over there people really move, they know
the limits and widths of their cars and pedestrians
don't even turn to look if you're coming up on them
near redline.
I was surprised though at how few older cars were on
the road. I'm sure they wear their cars out much
sooner. Any comments on this?
