Spider Trunk lid spring adjustment

Hello all,
 If I park on a slope, the trunk lid keep dropping on my head. I looked at the spring lever for the lid, there are 3 notches and right now, they are at the far inside one. If I moved these out to the middle or the far outside one, will this help or am I at the best adjustment already? I tried to wiggle the spring, but it is very strong. What is the best way to switch the notches without having the spring flying in the wrong direction?
