How to install: Carrello head lights covers?

Hello all,
 I have 2 head lights covers for my 91 spiders and I want to put them on but it looks like I have to do some modification. If anyone has put these on before, please give me a tip on how to prepare for these. My girlfriend opposed the idea of putting these on, I do not like to put them on and take them off leaving all these holes on the body. Any advices?
 Do they kill the elegant look of the spider veloce?
