Re: French surnames



The esteemed Mr. Hertzman (was it perhaps Man of Hertz long ago?) writes in his excellent de Dion explanation "dug sedon undoubtedly calls it de dion"

Fantastic information PLUS little nuggets of subtle humor. Just great. My only caution when comparing English and Italian texts especially for technical terms and proper names is that mistakes are commonly made in the English texts as the writers, editors and proofers are most likely not native English speakers so are prone to miss many common mistakes... proofing all that text in a non-native language is just overwhelming even if you can read it OK.


So do we now need a four column cross-reference?
