Gang -

No, that is not an aria from Pagliacci - it is what I
did yesterday, for the first time in the 6 1/2 years
Rico and I have been running around together. Oh, I'd
had a couple go floppy on me, but yesterday
afternoon's event was AN EVENT. About 4K plus in 1st
gear, just shifting to 2nd, then an almighty BLAM!, a
bunch of vibration, and chunks of rubber bouncing
across the road. Quite dramatic. I'm just really happy
it happened during a 1-2 shift on Foothill Boulevard
instead of in the middle of a 4-5 shift on the
freeway! I'm also glad that, for no particular reason
I can think of, I had decided yesterday morning to
charge the battery on the berlina so that I could
drive it once in a while...

BTW, there is a truly gorgeous dark blue '67 Milano
Silver that is for sale. It's at Alfa Only at the
moment, getting its steering rack replaced. If I had
some spare money lying around I'd get it in a
heartbeat. If anyone wants some further info, I'll
find out what I can when I go to pick Rico up.
