Really? I use a little bit on my lug nuts all the time. When you only
drive < 1k miles per year on a car, tire rotations every 5-10 years get much
easier when you can get the lug nuts off.
I haven't lost a wheel yet, am I driving on borrowed time?

I thought anti-seize on lugnuts was a good idea, but twice developed loose
wheels...which had been torqued with a torque wrench...because of it. I used
brake cleaner on the threads and have had no recurrences. YMMV, of course,
but I won't be using it on wheels anymore.
Incidentally, until AROO's last track day, I put a torque wrench on every lug
nut of every car I checked. You'd be amazed how many anomalies that turned
up, from loose nuts to studs that snapped off under no pressure on one of our
top racers' car. We discontinued checking for the last one, just telling
everyone to check their own because someone feared our liability.
First lap of the first session, a nice 911 lost a wheel. It's the things you
take for granted that bite you in the butt.
