AC Cars- minimal Alfa content
Joe Elliott opined thusly:
"Also, wouldn't an *AC* Shelby Cobra be a British-branded car? ;)",and is
correct. Although powered by 'Murican iron (the lovely High-Performance
289), the cars were assembled completely in England. What is less clear are
the names they're known by: AC Cobra (as it shows in the factory chassis
manual), Shelby Cobra, Ford Cobra, or simply, a "beast"!
Required Alfa content: the '82 dull-gray GTV6, aka "suede-mobile", was
upgraded during the US holiday last Monday with an eBay-sourced AFM, and
upon testing, got "scratch" in second gear (= a SoCal hot rod phrase to
describe a slight tire-chirping while accelerating)!
