The young in cars

>>hen I was in high school, if say, an Honor Society
meeting ran late and I said "Damn, this meeting running late is
cutting into my car-fixin' time" the response I usually got was "Gee
Joe, that was a pretty redneck thing to say."<<

This is probably not that different to the UK. Few young people
are into cars. About the best it gets is people putting git kits
on basic cars

Part of that over here is that cars are now very expensive. You cannot
drive one below 17, and at that point the insurance will really hurt. An
18 year old neighbour wants a Ford RS2000 (2L saloon, a bit sporty,
cheaper insurance grouping than a GTV6 or Milano) and for an 8 year
old car the insurance quotes he has had are about #8000
(US$12000~US$13000), which is about his yearly earnings!

When I bought my Alfa 33 16V P4 my existing company refused to
insure me on it as I was at the time under 30.

All the best

Keith
