Alfa in America...

OK.

I'd agree that Alfa is quite obviously not coming back to this country 
anytime soon.  Now, does that mean that you can't buy a new Alfa in America?

Well.......  I suppose it would depend on one's level of commitment.  It is 
possible to import these cars.  I, for one, know of a federalized Spyder.  
Its' a Black one that I have seen around Winter Park, Florida twice now 
(Suburban Orlando).

If I remember it had a real plate on it...  I'd think that the 156 and 166 
would also be pretty easy to get over the ole Pond.  Ditto the GTV.

So, it is very feasible. The trick is, who has the $1,500,000+++ to pull this 
off?  Point is, it is possible... but the other question is, would they sell 
for the prices that one would have to charge?  In other words... Would you 
pay $55,000 or so for a 166? $40,000 for a 156?

As far as General Motors... if they're too stupid from a marketing standpoint 
to import the Holden Commodore SSs... god only knows if Alfa Romeos will make 
it over here through them.

Still, if they came back... I dont think that sales would be too tough to 
pull off if GM was willing to do a serious launch.

Ya know how Hyundais have this reputation over here for being cheap junk?  
Yeah.  Well a 5yr-60K bumper to bumper and 10yr-100K powertrain warranty darn 
near doubled their sales.  Do something like that for Alfa... Throw in some 
subvented leases.... And you can sell anything IMO.

Just my ramblings... it is sorta frustrating that these cars arent available 
here...  Thos some lucky member of the Italian UN Embassy in NY City is 
unning around in a Silver 156 2.4JTD.. <sigh>
