Road trip west

Hi,
I am picking up my new '78 Alfetta Sedan on Sept. 8th in Kansas City, and
driving it back to California. I will be leaving Kansa City late
afternoon/early evening on the 8th and most likely heading west on 70 to
Denver, 87 north to 80, and 80 all the way home to Lake Tahoe.
If any listers live along this route, and might be willing help if anything
were to go wrong, which it won't, I (and my wife) would greatly appreciate
it.
