It saddens me to report that Alfisti (and automotive enthusiasts in general)
are collectively a little poorer today, as Richard Stafferton passed away
last night after a lengthy illness. Richard was one of the founders of the
Alfa Romeo Club of Canada, and was the first and long-serving editor of
"Alfista". Richard owned (and vintage raced) a variety of Giuliettas,
Giulias, and a TZ1. The TZ was eventually sold to help finance Richard's
dream of opening The Autophile, an automobile-oriented book and collectibles
store in Toronto, where Richard dispensed his encyclopedic knowledge of
virtually anything with wheels. In later years, Richard owned a 164L
alongside a stable of vintage Aston Martins, including a 1933 LeMans racer.
Richard is survived by his wife Patricia and son Henry.
