Peter,

The resevoir that you are trying to fill is for the power steering pump and
the self leveling rear shock absorbers.  Alfa does spec dextron II AT fluid
for this purpose.  In order to fill the AT, there is a fill plug under the
car on the side of the transmission.  Check the manual again.  It's all in
there.
