Just had a rebuilt a/c compressor put in. But before that, there was an ood 
noise coming from the engine at idle, which no one couldn't find the source 
of. Also, an odd sound that sounded like there was something loose in the 
front struts at low speeds. 

All of the noises were from the compressor being loose on it's mounts. The 
thing must have been rocking like Whistler's mother. So before you drive 
yourself crazy using a stethoscope, check to see that the compressor is 
securely bolted on.
