Gasket Removal

In answer to Alan Lamberts question; I tear off the old gasket and scrape off
the remains, then I use laquer thinner to soften and wipe off the contact
cement.(In the process of cleaning, I have started the gluing process all over
again, as the cleaning yields a surface ready for new glue).
