Re: 76 Spider fuel pressure light
The starting procedure for Spica equipped cars is to turn the key to the *run*
position, wait for the low fuel pressure warning light to go on briefly, turn
the key to the start position after the light goes out. You should hear the
fuel pump hum drop to a lower tone as pressure builds before engaging the
starter.
The warning light should not be illuminated while the car is running. If it is,
you have a problem. Replace the tank fuel filter right away. If you still have
a problem, it is probably the fuel pump, fuel line hoses, or the restrictor
orifice at the injection pump. Fuel line hoses may appear to be fine and not
leak gasoline but draw in air when the system is pressurized. If you need more
detailed help I can get it for you (it's not readily accessible here at work),
or you may contact Wes Ingram or Fred DeMatteo.
