Re:164 Motronic versions

Funny that, I went searching after reading about the self diagnostics on the
Digest and on the Cardisc. They were missing on my recently sold '91 164L (
no *Test* button) and on my current 164LS ( 5 quick prods of the gas pedal
gets no response ). Does the system only work when there is actually a fault
or were the diagnostics only incorporated in non-European cars?
