In the odd occurance category, note that a starter does not tend to work
worth a diddley if the bolts are loose.

Happened.  First "ground" a little; ultimately simply spun.  If this sort
of thing happens, check the bolts.  One had lost the nut.

(On the GTV6, finding that problem is only the beginning -- have to get
the bolt back into position, find a washer and nut, get the washer on,
then the nut started, then hold the head while turning the nut.  A 3/8"
extension will just make it past the starter/solenoid.  Possible without
pulling the engine.  Just barely.)
