Alfa Rodeo 1998 [Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, Oklahoma]
The Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Oklahoma [AROCO] invites you
to attend our fourth annual driver's school to be held on
May 31, 1998 at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit outside
Tulsa Oklahoma. You may choose to attend either our full
bore Driver's School or enroll in the ever popular Touring Class.
Touring Class
allows you an opportunity to experience a real racetrack at
controlled speeds with an experienced instructor.
Although no rollbars are required [even in convertibles], a helmet,
seat belts and a licensed SCCA instructor [supplied] are. Pace
cars will lead and trail the field to ensure that speeds do not
get out of hand and no passing is permitted. You will begin your
20 minute session at a slow pace [even slower than highway speeds]
to allow you to familiarize yourself with Hallett as the instructor
shows you the proper racing line. As the session progresses
you will be allowed to increase your speed and learn more about
your car's stability and dynamics. After the session is over and
you have returned to the pits you can prepare for the best part of
all ..... you'll get to do it again! That's right, there will be
two of these 20 minute sessions for all participants in Touring
Class. A maximum of 20 cars will be enrolled.
Cost: $45.00 before April 30, 1998
$55.00 thereafter
Touring Class [Ferrari Club Session]
Interest has been shown by several Ferrari owners in bringing
out their cars for a Ferrari only track session during the
lunch hour. This session will be run using the Touring
Class rules [see above] and offers the enthusiast the chance to
experience Hallett at controlled speeds with a licensed
instructor. You will get a chance to learn a little about
your cars stability and dynamics on a fairly empty track. The
only cars on the track during this session will be Ferrari's
and the pace cars. A maximum of 20 cars will be enrolled.
You may of course enroll in both the drivers school and this
touring class if you wish.
Cost $35.00 before April 30, 1998
$45.00 thereafter
Driver's School
is as close as it gets to actual racing. The only speed limit is
your own. Convertibles require rollbars to participate. All
participants will be required to have a helmet [Snell 85 M or SA rating
or newer], long sleeve 100% cotton shirt or jacket, leather shoes
or boots [no open toe sandals] and fully operational seat belts.
Passing is allowed only along designated straightaways. No
passing in corners or wheel-to-wheel racing will be tolerated.
Sessions will last 20 minutes and at least 4 sessions are planned.
A maximum of 80 cars will be enrolled and entrants will
be classed into four run groups based on experience:
Cost: $80.00 before April 30, 1998
$110.00 thereafter
Group 1 [Race]
was installed to allow drivers with previous road racing / autocross
experience an opportunity to hone their skills at Hallett. This
group of drivers know the track, flags, corner signals etc. and are
comfortable at extreme levels of performance knowing full well the
consequences of and accepting responsibility for mistakes. They
are driving cars capable of the greatest speeds. Some cars in
this group will be race prepared and not legal for street use.
Group 2 [Experienced]
Drivers in this group have had several previous drivers schools and
perhaps some road racing / autocross experience. Though quite
experienced they may prefer for reasons of performance to turn it
down a notch from the full out Group 1 experience. Several of the
more experienced four and six cylinder Alfa drivers will be in
this group.
Group 3 [Intermediate]
will include drivers with at least one previous drivers school and
perhaps an autocross or two under their belt. Participants are required
to attend the morning classroom session and begin their on-track session
with an instructor [supplied].
Group 4 [Novice]
was installed to allow novice drivers with little or no track experience
a controlled introduction to Hallett. Participants are required to
attend the morning classroom session and begin their on-track session
with an instructor [supplied].
