Bill,
I have the exact same problem on my 164 with a sunroof. Do you mean the
plastic trim on the edge
of the console? I orginally thought it was just the previous owner
spraying some non-compatable
cleaner onto the plastic. However, I tried removing the console and
cleaning with lighter fliuid but no
luck. I'm just more careful now when I hit the switches on top to avoid
getting the black "yuk" on my
fingers! :)
Brdgs, Tim
This is exactly what I am talking about...I removed mine and sprayed it
with clear acrylic, which stops gentle contact but the substrate is
soft. From my limited knowledge of plastics, I will assume the chemical
balance of the plastic is defective. But I wanted to see if I was alone
in this problem.
Perhaps the solution is simply replacing it, if it is an isolated
problem. What is your build date? Mine is 7/90
Thanks, and thanks to Tony W in the UK for his reply!
