So I was thinking I was a Giulietta expert...

O.K. the call goes out for all Serious x-perts to offer an explanation
on why there seems to be too much car betweenthe recently installed
Veloce motor mounts and the attachment point for the transmission
crossmember on my '62 Normale Spider? Well, heres the truth, I loaned
my original transmission crossmember to a guy as he had lost his and he
up and disappeared, leaving me in his former position. So, I acquired a
crossmember with a drive train from a "transition" '63 purportedly with
a 1300 engine. Oh and another thing, different trans, still a 101
series 4 speed, conventional rear bushing etc. I note that the 5 speed
I did not install has a much larger rear mount and the bolt center seems
to be a trifle closer to the driveshaft flange, The block assuredly is
tight to the firewall reinforcement, not allowing for much adjustment
there. I am using the spacer sleeves to lower the trans the inch that
Alfa adjusted it, but still find the crossmember is about an inch ahead
of the mounting holes in the substructure. Having done this a few times
over the years, I can't recall ever running into this problem . Any
thoughts? Figured I'd take a break from working on the newly acquired
Maserati Quattroporte (Warning, non-Alfa content!) to ease into more
familiar territory. Maybe I shouldnt have left it apart for 15 years.
