V6 AFM
The stock AFM is a big restriction to the engine on all ALFA V6
engines (Except 164's they have Motronic) . Your air coming into the
intake tract has to enter through the AFM up the sleeve into the various
hoses and the throttle body. If you measure your stock AFM and throttle
body you will notice that the AFM is smaller the throttle body, hence a
restriction. The larger AFM is the same size as the throttle body
increasing the amount of air entering the engine. Remember that the
engine is a air pump, everything done is to get more oxygen into the
engine to make more power. Several people on the list say that a Probe
GT AFM works , but I found a BMW Bosch unit from a Jetrontic system that
works with the ALFA FI. You will have to modify your air box but it
works. The larger AFM will have to be adjusted to properly work with
your engine and if you make other mods it will have to be adjusted
again, but it is not so complicated.
